
Enzo Maresca believes big team like Chelsea is a trophy demanding team
Enzo Maresca became the Coaches of the Blues after Chelsea parted ways with Mauricio Pochettino after securing European qualification for the Blues in close to two seasons.
Enzo Maresca on the other hand also led Leicester City back into the English Premier League just a season after being relegated to the Championship.
Maresca has opened up on the challenges that comes with managing a big team like Chelsea. He also acknowledged the fact that as a manager of Chelsea, you’re always expected to be competing for trophies.
“When you join big club like Chelsea, you have to compete and try to win trophies”.
“We want to compete. Hopefully, we can win trophies as soon as possible”.
Maresca also opened up on Trevoh Chalobah’s exclusion from the Chelsea team embarking on the US tour: “It’s always sad to leave a player out… but I’m here to take decisions”.
“We have Wes Fofana, Disasi, Tosin there. Also, we have Acheampong who’s doing fantastic”.
The Spanish gaffer also spoke about the importance of Christopher Nkunku in the Chelsea team stating that Nkunku can play everywhere. He also acknowledged that Nkunku is doing very well already”.
“He can play number 9, winger, attacking midfielder… he can play everywhere. I see football with player able to play in several positions”.
“I want players to develop and play in several positions”.
