The New Patriotic Party (NPP) have rescheduled the disciplinary hearing for Sarah Adwoa Safo who served as Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament.
The scheduled hearing emerged because the former minister violated party rules that bar members from delivering statements that could split or divide party’s unity.
The Disciplinary Committee originally sent its appearance invitation to Safo on March 24, 2025. They sent Mrs. Safo a letter on Sunday, April 6, which announced the postponement due to “emerging scheduling adjustments and internal considerations” about the hearing. A new hearing date will be provided to Safo when it becomes available, according to the letter.

“The secretariat of the national party extends its greetings to you. A formal postponement has been issued for the hearing scheduled for Monday, April 7, 2025, as indicated in our previous correspondence dated March 24, 2025, with reference number NPP/HQ/GS/2025/24/03/DC,” the letter emphasised.

The postponement took the party by surprise and introduced additional confusion among members who already faced high tension levels. The NPP faces mounting pressure regarding its handling of party discipline because the postponement extends the period of examination over these internal problems.
In effect, the party’s management of Mrs. Adwoa Safo’s case, together with similar issues during upcoming political events, will determine how the party appears to the public and maintains its unity.
As a matter of fact, the NPP established that Safo’s hearing will be addressed eventually without providing a specific date, and hence people remain puzzled about the future of the party.
