The Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, has issued a stern condemnation of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) because their power outages and low voltage problems create massive disruptions to both local residents and businesses throughout the area.
Minister Gunu displayed his visible frustration by giving ECG performance the direct assessment of “complete disappointment.” Public communication remains crucial, according to him, especially during planned power outage periods.
He encouraged people to share challenges with the organization freely. The people require notification of power disruptions before they take action to prepare themselves. All household appliances, together with refrigerators, are enduring damage.
After blackouts, they will begin charging customers for all the damage their equipment sustained. What reason exists for reaching this current situation?
The public has shown increasing frustration because people have experienced numerous unanticipated power outages, which caused both financial damage and personal disruptions.
EGC Volta Regional Manager Ms. Christina Jatoe-Kaleo confirmed the power problems are genuine, yet she stated that most of the issues derive from GRIDCo’s national transmission faults.

She explained that insufficient power supply from the beginning renders the transmission inadequate for reaching customers. The staff at GRIDCo have been actively working with us for an entire week. Our power supply depends on the stability of their system; therefore, we will stop operations when they stop.
ECG must give advance notice to the public through ECG, but technical faults at night often occur unpredictably.

Minister Gunu, however, remained unconvinced, iterating, “Your failure to deliver power services disappoints every resident in this geographic area. He demanded to know which crime had led to this situation. Our correspondence has gone unanswered at all.
That’s why I came personally. Today, I am the letter.”
The organization continues its ongoing work by providing 24/7 technical support and staff training, according to Ms. Jatoe-Kaleo. The official requested better teamwork between ECG, GRIDCo, and the government to develop permanent solutions.
The minister, along with most people from the Volta Region, feels their endurance has reached its limit, and to that effect, the minister declared with determination that things have gone too far.
