Arsenal and Chelsea in hot pursuit for Bologna and Italy defender Riccardo Calafiori
Bologna defender Ricardo Calafiori is one of the most sought-after defenders in world football currently with Arsenal and Chelsea showing huge interest in the defender.
The 22-year-old Italian defender caught the attention of most big clubs in Europe after a successful season with Bologna in the Italian Serie A.
Calafiori helped his side secure Champions League football after scoring 2 goals and assisting his teammates 5 times in the just ended Serie A season.
Arsenal and Mikel Arteta look set to increase their squad depth for the upcoming season as they bid for the defender.
However, Arsenal have had a €47m bid rejected by Bologna for center-back Riccardo Calafiori, who wants at least €50m, with Chelsea also interested in signing the left-footed Italian defender.
The Gunners are expected to increase their bid for Calafiori as Mikel Arteta sees him to be the ideal man for his future defensive set-up.
