The late President John Evans Atta Mills‘s family was upset with the National Democratic Congress for what they saw as slights.
Tensions surfaced during the wreath-laying ceremony of the late Atta Mills held at Asomdwee Park to commemorate the former president’s death twelve years ago.
Certain NDC members allegedly treated some family members disrespectfully and prevented them from fully participating in the ceremony.
According to UTV, some have vowed to support Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and vote against the party that their relatives backed.

One family member claimed in a UTV video that even though NDC flagbearer John Mahama was not at fault, he would still pay the price.
“I know Mahama is innocent of today’s happening but he has been affected so no family member will vote for the party.”
“Another member lamented saying “I am an NDC member but what they have done today, we are going to break the 8,” another said.
The NDC and Koku Anyidoho, its former executive, clashed during the ceremony as well. According to Ghanaweb, he was accused by the party of bringing impersonators to the function. Anyidoh has a history of courting controversy due to his participation in Mills-related events.
