Sam Nartey George defended the recent workforce dismissals at his communication ministry during a press meeting by calling them essential for cleaning up the institution and fighting corruption.
Public institutions currently implement this move within a larger initiative to improve their operational efficiency and transparency levels.
On April 9, 2025, Sam George made his announcement in Accra about essential staff terminations to support the government’s strict position against corruption. He revealed that the ministry received World Bank authorization to begin a new hiring process with comprehensive ethical checks to select highly qualified moral candidates.
As the minister indicated, he made swift decisions to terminate 13 staff members working under the World Bank-funded Ghana Digital Acceleration Programme’s project implementation unit through consultations with the World Bank office in Accra. The necessary action served to show commitment toward maintaining exceptional ethics in public service positions.

The personnel dismissals served the government’s patriotic mission to safeguard the state from negative local and international reputation damage, according to George’s statement. The ministry needed to uphold global standards through this decision to protect its international partnerships, especially with the World Bank.
