The Bantama Member of Parliament, Francis Asenso Boakye, confirmed that Suzy Pinamang will receive specialized medical treatment abroad through active planning.
On April 4th, 2025, Suzy, who attends Adventist Senior High School in Kumasi, lost her eyesight because of an accidental gunshot from another student.
The 16-year-old student brought his gun to school for a gun authenticity debate, which ended with him unintentionally firing the weapon and injuring Suzy. The shooting incident at school created a national shockwave, which caused immediate worries about educational facility protection.
Asenso Boakye responded to public worries and emerging gossip by denying reports that he had abandoned his promise to provide medical care to Suzy.
An online video features a woman exposing the MP for disregarding the young girl. Boakye denies these accusations because the woman does not have any connection to Suzy’s family.

“The woman who appears in the video is not related to Suzy, according to confirmation from her brother, Clement, through constant communication with Asenso Boakye. The family and relevant institutions, together with me, work to secure the necessary medical care for Suzy,” he emphasized.
Boakye stated that doctors evaluated Suzy’s condition as severe because they detected substantial eye injuries. To that effect, he wants to help the family obtain travel documents for abroad treatment through contacting Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.
The story of Suzy has moved many people, thus starting a wider discussion about student protection as well as the requirement for medical and emotional assistance following traumatic incidents.
The ongoing preparations to send Suzy abroad aim to give her the needed medical attention, which will lead to her potential recovery and the promising future she dreamed about.
